IAFF Member is a true happy homeowner

Loy Bink loves his southwest Montana home — a three-bedroom, two-bath single-family house built in 1953 — where he lives with his wife and toddler son.
“It’s a sturdy little home,” says Bink, a firefighter and member of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 271. “The bones are in great shape. We’ve been fixing it up to modernize it a little bit. And it’s been a great first home for us.”
Before Bink bought his house in 2016, he reached out to a mortgage loan officer at Wells Fargo. One of her first questions was whether Bink was in a union.
“I said I’ve always been a big supporter of my local and unions in general. She said if you sign up for the Union Plus Mortgage Program, we can get you this great rate and then you also get a $500 gift card1,” Bink recalls. “I thought, ‘That’s pretty cool.’” Union members must be verified and identify themselves as eligible to receive the My Mortgage Gift1 award.
With financing available through Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, the Union Plus Mortgage Program helps union members, their parents, and their children purchase or refinance their homes while also offering exclusive union member benefits.
When Bink decided to refinance his home loan, he went back to Wells Fargo and the Union Plus Mortgage Program and got an even lower interest rate.
“It was mostly online and over the phone. I just had to show up and sign some paperwork,” he says. “And the same thing when we refinanced. They gave me another great rate on my mortgage. It was very easy.”
Bink adds, “I was very happy with it, and I had no desire to go anywhere else.”
